General Guidelines for Activities of ACCHE 1. Supervision of Children- Children should be under supervision of their parent(s) at all times, at all activities. The parent is responsible for the child’s behavior. The parent may choose another parent to supervise the child in the case of the parent’s absence, and if so, that parent assumes all responsibility of that child’s behaviors during the activity. Supervision of children is necessary to provide for the safety of the child. This responsibility is specifically directed toward, but not exclusive to, these behaviors:
2. RSVP for activities- Activities of the ACCHE are generally of two types -- those which require an RSVP, and those which allow members a "last minute" decision by not requiring an RSVP. If an activity requires an RSVP, THERE IS A REASON FOR IT! Usually the activity is one which allowed the group a discount price or other "deal" because we had a certain number of spaces promised to be used or sold. The benefit to us, as members, is that we are able to participate in great activities at a reduced rate. In some cases, as some tours, activities are only planned for groups, and therefore we would not have the opportunity to participate as individual homeschoolers. The people who plan these activities spend time planning for the activity, finding out what the rate would be for a certain number of children, discussing different numbers, etc. In short, the preparation for these activities is not usually a five minute deal. PLEASE show respect for the person who is planning the activity by following these guidelines:
3. Child Care- Arrangements may be made for child care by the person in charge of a group activity. ACCHE will pay for the child care for these events:
These activities are open to all group members, and involve some type of presentation by the children. It is distracting for younger children (4 and under) to be in the room during presentations if they are not quiet. In order to be respectful to those children who have worked hard to prepare, we would like to offer the option for child care. In order to provide adequate care, a reservation must be made by the deadline stated in the newsletter. If you do not make a child care reservation and your child becomes noisy during the presentation, you will be asked to remove your child from the room.
